HOW TO RESET NETGEAR ROUTER ? Call Our Customer Service Tollfree Helpline Number on +1(833)-239-7926

It is a very simple and easy process to Reset your Netgear Router. But why does a user need to reset their Netgear router.
There are different reasons to reset your router:

1)

The Router Has ‘Locked Up’
This simply means there is no blinking light activity or you can’t log into the router at all and also  you can’t connect to the Internet either.

2)

The Power Light Stays static
This might be an issue when the router starts up. It should ideally stay unchanged for around 20 seconds or so. The power light should then turn to green. If this doesn’t happen, after a minute or so, it is recommended to shut down the router, and then turn it on again. If it is still showing same problem then router has to reset.

3)

Sell Or Return Your Netgear Router
Perhaps It is the time to sell your router or maybe you want to  return it to your ISP (in this case you likely have a router/modem combo). Well, if this is the case, then you don’t want to have your credentials stored on the router. Whether it is the password that you use to login, or details of your ISP. It’s always a wise decision to delete all your configuration for security reasons.

Resetting your Netgear router to default is the best and recommended way to do this.

Things to know before you reset your router

If you want to log in to the router, but have never made any config changes, the default credentials will definitely going to work.
Try these credential first before resetting the router. Of course, if there is another issue with your Netgear router  that requires a factory reset, then ignore this stuff !
The majority of Netgear routers use these credentials by default:
Username: admin
Password: password
And for the old routers use these credentials:
Username: admin
Password: 1234

How To Reset A Netgear Router With The Reset Button

This is the easiest and quick way to reset  the router. You don’t need to be logged in or plugged into the router to perform this type of reset:
1) Locate the ‘reset’ button on the router. It is very easy to find. It isn’t actually a button in the traditional sense, but a tiny hole within the casing of the router that is large enough for a pen, or paperclip to fit into.
Within the hole is a small button, that would be pressed by the pen or paperclip.

2)

With the router power turned on (always make sure it has been powered on for at least 2-3 minutes), use a very thin object (like pen/paperclip, or something similar) and press the reset button. You don’t have to press it hard,  just a gentle push is required. Keep pressing the button for about 10 seconds, or until the display lights have turned off.

3)

Finally, your netgear router has reset. Wait for a few moments to fully boot up.

Logging Into Your Netgear Router After Factory Reset (and before!)

Always keep in mind that when you

reset a Netgear router, or any router, you will lose all the configuration settings that you have applied. So, always take a back up of your configuration settings or may be write down somewhere for future reference.

I hope after reading this article you will be able to login with the default ‘admin’ ‘password’ credentials we talked about earlier in this article. This will work for both Netgear wireless and cables only routers.

However, we always recommend logging in via an Ethernet cable – into LAN port 1.
